Actor Kel Mitchell rose to fame in 1994 after starring in a few Nickelodeon sitcoms and movies. Once the shows got cancelled and he saw his marriage going down the tubes, things weren't looking too good for him. In a recent interview with People, Mitchell revealed the personal battles he's been facing surrounding drugs, suicidal thoughts, and divorce, as well as, how he turned his life around by restoring his faith back in God.

While many fans remember the 37-year-old actor bringing laughter to their childhood, Mitchell's life hasn't always been comical. In the "My Testimony" section on his personal website, Mitchell wrote intimate details about the trials and tribulations he's faced throughout his life and how each one of them led him to the decision to find his way back into the church.

Describing it as a "confusing moment" in his life, the All That alum revealed he was "suicidal" and dealing with countless struggles including drugs, divorce, the loss of a loved one due to gang violence, debt, lust, heartbreak, and more. He decided to shed the weight of negativity in his life and exchange it for a new beginning with God.

"I felt like I'd hit a wall," Mitchell told People. "I was like, 'Okay. I need to figure out what I need to do in my life.' I was trying to figure it all out on my own. But what I needed to do was turn to Him. Once I found that clarity with Christ, I knew everything would work out."

The Chicago native admitted he's always had a relationship with God, but believes he finally has a true understanding of his purpose and God's plan for him in the future. According to his website, Mitchell continues to build is relationship the God by praying on a daily basis, studying The Bible, and singing.

Along with starring on Nickelodeon's new sitcom, Game Shakers, Mitchell also serves as a stage manager at a non-denominational Christian church in Los Angeles. Describing himself as "young, fly and saved," Mitchell has found peace thanks to his relationship with God, his new wife Asia Lee, and his children including his 16-year-old son Lyric and 14-year-old daughter Allure.

"I enjoy living this life. I don't let things frustrate or worry me anymore. I don't do that because I have peace in my heart. I have God."
