Actress Nia Long celebrated her 45th birthday on Friday October 30. What's the best way to celebrate her birthday, since you can't really go out and order a couple martinis with her? A little Netflix and Nia. Celebrate with her top ten best movies ever.

Nia Long woke up to a beautiful sentiment from her son that she shared with followers.

Her son, and her fiancé, NBA Spurs player, Ime Udoka, may have plans to shower the lovely actress with plenty of gifts and "I love yous" on her birthday but, fans love her just as much. Especially with the many great entertaining characters she's played over the years from her large body of work. One of those characters is the role of Bird, who Long played in the 1997 film Soul Food, which according to the Hollywood Reporter, will be gracing the big screen for a sequel titled, More Soul Food, very soon.

10. Soul Food (1997)

The film co-starred Vivica A Fox, Vanessa Williams and Mekhi Phifer and was all about the love of family. The Joseph family deal with their own personal issues in their immediate families, and not everything is always peaceful between them but, when the matriarch of the family, "Big Mama" falls ill, The Joseph's only have each other to depend on to keep family traditions in the family. Long plays the youngest sister Bird.

9. Boyz In the Hood (1991)

Boyz in the Hood is an urban classic that co-starred Cuba Gooding Jr, Ice Cube and Morris Chestnut. The film takes place in South Central Los Angeles, CA, and is centered around a group of adolescent friends who grow from young boys to grown men, while trying to stay safe and alive in a gang infested area. Long plays Brandi, the girlfriend of Tre (Cuba Gooding Jr.)

8. Love Jones (1997)

Love Jones, which also starred Larenz Tate, was a romantic drama centered around the life of Darius Lovehall, a poet and writer who meets and falls in love with, Nina Mosley, a struggling photographer. Long plays the character of Mosley.

7 & 6 The Best Man (1999) & The Best Man Holiday (2013)

The Best Man franchise has become Long's most notable role where she plays Jordan Armstrong, a head strung career driven woman, who usually doesn't have time for a man. She and her college friends have carried on years of friendship that has seen its share of ups and downs. The films also stars Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Morris Chestnut, Terrance Howard and Regina Hall. The franchise is currently working on the third installment, The Best Man Wedding.

5. & 4. Are We There Yet (2005) Are We Done Yet (2007)

Another great franchise for Long were the films where she co-starred opposite rapper/actor Ice Cube. The Are We There Yet and Are We Done Yet films are all about family and great to watch with the entire family. Long plays Suzanne, a woman with two children who meets and falls in love with Nick (Ice Cube), a fun guy with no children of his own but, develops a great relationship with Suzanne's kids - after they get all of the difficult trials out of the ways. In the second film, Nick and Suzanne are married and expecting a child of their own.

3 & 2. Big Momma's House (2000) & Big Momma's House 2 (2006)

Big Momma's House is a comedy that co-stars comedian Martin Lawrence. Long plays Sherry Pierce, the love interest of Malcom Turner played by Lawrence. Lawrence is an FBI agent who goes undercover as the grandmother of Pierce to protect her from her violent ex-boyfriend.

1. Friday (1995)

Friday is the 1995 film that co-starred Ice Cube and comedian, Chris Tucker. The film is based on two non-working adult men who do a lot of smoking of marijuana and find themselves in a lot of trouble - all on a Friday. Long plays the neighbor of Ice Cube's character Craig, Debbie.
