Kanye West's fashion line may be selling like hot cakes, but there's one person in the industry who could care less about the rapper's products. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Project Runway star, Tim Gunn, admitted to believing West's line is "basic." He didn't stop there either. Gunn went on to diss his wife, Kim Kardashian, and the rest of her family.
The fashion consultant is known for being extremely opinionated both on his show and in real life. So, when it came to speaking his mind about West and his entry into the fashion industry, Gunn refused to bite his tongue on the topic.
"I think they're a bunch of dumb clothes," Gunn said bluntly to the Huffington Post. "Just basic pieces... He won't [like that comment], but let me tell you, the whole Kardashian clan doesn't like me, so no surprise there."
Despite Gunn's lack of interest in his line, the "All Day" rapper has done pretty well for himself without his support. His Yeezy Season 1 collection has sold out, his Yeezy Season 2 collection recently premiered during fashion week with great feedback and he's being honored with the "Shoe of the Year" award for his Adidas Yeezy Boost by Footwear News.
While he might believe West and fashion just don't mix, when it comes to the Kardashian family, Gunn couldn't find anything nice to say about them either. The 62-year-old Emmy Award winner said that their style is nothing to be admired or emulated. In fact, he warns viewers to stray away from any items they have worn or will wear.
"There are large issues [with the Kardashians] for me, such as why? Why!" Gunn told Huffington Post. "But when it comes to fashion I say to people all the time, if you want guidance in fashion, just consider this: if a Kardashian is wearing it, don't... I think it's vulgar!"
When asked about the younger generation of the Kardashian-Jenner crew and the impact they're having on fashion and style trends, Gunn was less harsh with his response. Kylie Jenner has created an immense following with her style, while older sister Kendall is taking the model world by storm, recently landing a gig for the Victoria's Secret fashion show.
"[But] I shouldn't say that she doesn't [have "it"]," Gunn said about Kendall to Huffington Post. "I don't know her -- she may be a perfectly lovely young woman. I just feel that she's tainted by the Kardashian aura of yuck!"
