One of modern jazz's most celebrated pianistic badasses, Vijay Iyer brings a gift to the good people at the Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival: a free trio concert for the public.

Continuing his lonstanding relationship with the fest, the Vijay Iyer Trio goes on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Performing at Marian Anderson Theater at Aaron Davis Hall, consider it a highlight of Jazz Appreciation Month.

In collaboration with Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concert Series, the concert will cap three nights of Harlem Stage during the festival.

And it's only $10 or less.

According to a release, the three-day jazzman's fest runs from May 7 to 9 and features...

A Latin jazz double bill at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse (150 Convent Ave. @ 135 St.) starting at 7:30 p.m. with Aruán Ortiz's "Music and Architecture" featuring Don Byron on clarinet and Rufus Reidon bass; and Manuel Valera and New Cuban Express featuring vocalist Sofia Rei.
