Though they came out on top of their previous match against Haiti, we saw Costa Rica struggled against a team that shouldn't have given them much trouble.
"There was a 20- to 25-minute stretch there were we had three or four occasions to score against them or be scored on ourselves," coach Oscar Ramírez said after the match came to an end. "We should have scored a second goal there to make it 2-0 and get rid of the chance of them tying it, but we knew it was going to be a complicated game."
Hopefully the team has their heads on straight going up against Panama today, but we do know that forward Johan Venegas and defender Oscar Duarte are sitting out with injuries today.
Again, headed into today's match, Costa Rica has the statistical advantage over the opponents, especially considering the teams' history, but anything can happen in football - especially in international play!
