Kelly Clarkson is getting emotional and personal in her new music video. On Thursday (Nov. 19), she released a simple black and white video for her new single "Piece by Piece," from her new album of the same name. The heartfelt clip pays homage to the relationship between mothers and daughters in the wake of fathers who aren't there.

"Piece by Piece" was inspired by Clarkson's relationship with her father, who left her family when she was a small child, and her husband Brandon Blackstock, who Clarkson says is the complete opposite of her dad.

Those heightened emotions play into the video for "Piece by Piece." Shot in greyscale, the video features Clarkson singing directly in to the camera. When the mother and singer is not on the screen, images of mothers and daughters bonding and pregnant women are featured, highlighting the song's meaning that life moves on even with absent fathers.

The video takes a particularly emotional turn at the end, when Clarkson and Blackstock's own daughter River Rose Blackstock makes a smiley cameo, as she and her mama exchange a little kiss.

"Piece by Piece" is the latest single from Clarkson's album of the same name. The album, which was released in February, has previously been led by singles "Heartbeat Song" and "Invincible."

As for her own family, Clarkson's brood is growing. Earlier this year, while on her Piece By Piece Tour, the 33-year-old pop star revealed that she and Blackstock are pregnant with their second child, a boy.
