They've both sung "Hello" to the world on their own, and soon they may be doing it together. That's right, a collaboration between Adele and Lionel Richie may very well be in the works after a mashup of both of their hit songs "Hello" went viral earlier this fall.

After the 2015 "Hello" dropped, it didn't take long for Richie to get word of the new song, which shares a title with his No. 1 1984 hit. "Someone said to me, 'Lionel, Adele did 'Hello'' and I said, 'Retirement. I am done'...Then, all of a sudden I realized this is not 'Hello.' She just used 'Hello,'" Richie said in an interview with E! Online.

Because the Internet is the Internet, it didn't take long for the two "Hellos" to be tied together, and Richie called Adele up on her flip phone.

As Adele's 25 "Hello" soared to the top of the charts and their faux-conversation went viral, it seemed like there was only one other place for Richie and Adele to go with each other... a collaboration. So, could it happen? It seems like the answer is a resounding yes!

But it could be a while.

"We are going to be doing something together-that's already almost in the works. I can almost say that we are talking, but right now she has a mission," Lionel said. "Her mission is [to] get her record out and go on tour, so until she finishes that cycle, that won't happen just yet. She is committed to that."
