Do fans consider Eminem the "Hottest Summer Superstar" of 2013? Maybe not - considering NO new music from Em's highly-anticipated eighth studio album has yet to leak online. Still, Slim Shady finds himself battling it out with fellow pop stars Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Rihanna (just to name a few) in the UK's #MTVHottest Twitter challenge. Currently, Shady ranks #9. Do fans think the "Not Afraid" rapper deserves a higher spot? Well, get to tweeting!
Here's how the official MTV UK website explains the Twitter contest:
"MTV's panel of music experts have hand picked 50 of this summer's "hottest" music artists. From the shortlist below simply tweet #MTVHottest followed by the name of the artist you want to vote for and see them battle it out in our live leaderboard!Voting is based on hashtag tweet volume and closes August 18. The winner will be revealed August 31 on MTV Music."
So far, Eminem snags the no. 9 spot. He trails behind superstars including Katy Perry, The Wanted, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato, Lady Gagy, and Justin Bieber. Of course, the boys of One Direction currently hold the top spot. (At least as of 9:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, July 31).
At this time, Shady has obtained at least 1,125,410 fans tweets - 1D generated a whopping 16,000,000+.
As the contest takes over Twitter, Eminem's busy preparing for his mini-tour of Europe this August:

There's still no official release date for Em's new alum (fans are hoping for an early fall "surprise" from Slim Shady).
Meanwhile... do fans think Justin Bieber deserves to be named the "Hottest Summer Superstar" over Eminem, considering the "Believe" crooner recently BOMBED a cover of Em's hit rap song "Lose Yourself?" While performing in Detroit, nonetheless...
