The last couple of months have had some pretty down moments for country singer Scotty McCreery. Last month, he missed out on the Red Sox White House visit with his dad because of an airline snafu. This month, he was the victim of a home invasion at a friend's apartment near North Carolina State University, where he is finishing his sophomore year.

Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said that on Monday, officers were called shortly before 2 a.m. to an apartment about a mile from campus. Scotty and others at the apartment told police that three suspects armed with guns had robbed them of wallets, cash and electronic items. One of the victims said that the robbers had "two pistols and an assault rifle and told everyone to get down on the floor."

Though, thankfully, no one was injured in the home invasion, it was a scary time for the friends. Scotty shared a little bit about it on his Facebook, saying, "Yes, it was definitely a very scary night. Luckily, my friends and I are safe and the Raleigh PD is on the case.
I will share more when the time is right, but as of now we do not want to do or say anything that could hinder the investigation. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. A huge thank you to the Raleigh PD for their quick response and hard work in solving this case."

That hard work from Raleigh is paying off. Last night, 19-year-old Mikkail Jamal Shaw of Raleigh turned himself in at the Wake County Detention Center. He has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and is being held in lieu of $375,000 bail. Police are still searching for the other two suspects.
