It's been a few months since we've heard some noise from rapper Father. His last release came in May, 2015 in the form of his album, Who's Gonna Get F***** First? The 12-track mixtape caught the attention of many, but now Father is back to make sure everyone is still watching. The Atlanta rapper has just released a cover of Mya's 2000 hit track, "Best of Me," and it's quite unique.

Father's cover of "Best of Me" is much slower and has a chopped and screwed vibe to it. If you can all recall, Mya's version of the track is very upbeat and so was the remix with Jay Z. Father sticks to the original hook from the track, "But oh no I can't let you/Get the best of me/Even though deep inside/Something's dying to see/How you flow out them clothes/Then you put it on me/Feelings coming on strong/I know that it's wrong/I can't let you get the best of me."

Though the Ethereal produced track has a different sound to it, the vibe is the same as the original. Just like Mya, Father's lyrics surrounded the subject on whether he should let this new person get the best of him or not. The cover definitely takes fans back to the early 2000's and even Father reminds everyone he is paying tribute to Mya with this short note on his SoundCloud page, "For my first R&B love, Mya."

Since is this is the most recent we have heard from Father, maybe this is a sign that there is more to come from the rapper.

Take a listen to Father's version of "Best of Me," and Mya's original track and tell us what you think. Did Father do the original track justice?

See More Mya, father
