One Direction is over for the foreseeable future, and although the boys are giving all sorts of excuses for why they're on hiatus, fans can surely expect five solo albums in the next year or two.

Zayn Malik is set to be the first to release new music some time this spring, having had a head start when he quit the band a year ago. But the most high-profile release amongst the boys likely will be from Harry Styles, who has emerged as a fan favorite.

Styles registered four song titles with ASCAP last week, inadvertently signaling that he's already begun at least preliminary work on a solo album. According to NME via "tabloid reports," Styles has also begun taking some vocal lessons to prepare for recording his solo project.

In clips of him singing individually he's never sounded particularly bad or off key, aside from some minor vocal flares, which actually makes his voice a little more distinct from the other members. Still, couldn't we all use a little formal training?

If we're really trying to speculate here, perhaps he's training his voice to sing in a different style. Could we get a crooning '20s era solo album? Perhaps something more R&B tinged like Justin Timberlake was able to do when he left 'NSync. Or maybe Styles will create a metal album and he's learning to do some hardcore screaming. The possibilities are endless.
