Tom Clancy's The Division is easily one of the most anticipated video games of 2016, but gamers have been in the dark regarding its release date. Some hope came this week when a Reddit thread revealed-what we can only treat as rumors-that the equally anticipated Closed Beta could launch at the end of January. Ubisoft hasn't commented on this speculation, but, if it's true, we could experience The Division gameplay at the end of the month!

In a Reddit thread conversation between a customer and customer representative for the UK games retailer FunStock Digital, "the closed beta starts on the 29th January."

This is the only information that this rumor is based upon.

According to IGN, the Closed Beta was originally set for December 2015, but was then pushed to "early 2016" by Ubisoft. January 2016 is pretty much as "early" as you can get, don't you think? A spokesman for the company said that Ubisoft "comment on rumor or speculation."

Here's hoping that this rumor is true and the next time we hear about The Division is when the Closed Beta launches!

Tom Clancy's The Division will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 system, and Windows PC. Here is the official description of the game:

Tom Clancy's The Division is a revolutionary next-gen experience that brings the RPG into a modern military setting for the first time. In the wake of a devastating pandemic that sweeps through New York City, basic services fail one by one, and without access to food or water, the city quickly descends into chaos. As an agent of The Division, you'll specialize, modify, and level up your gear, weapons, and skills to take back New York on your own terms.
