The 2016 Brit Award nominations have been announced and some of the names you might expect lead the way. Celebrating the very best in British music over the past year, artists like Adele, Jamie xx, Years & Years, Coldplay and Mark Ronson lead the way multiple nominations.

The British best male solo artist leans heavily on electronic acts like Aphex Twin, Jamie xx and Calvin Harris, with James Bay being the only non-DJ or producer in the category.

Adele and Florence + the Machine lead the best British female category with a posthumous nod to Amy Winehouse.

Breakthrough groups include Years & Years, Jess Glynne and James Bay, while album selections come from Adele, Jamie xx, Florence, James Bay and Coldplay.

The focus is on homegrown talent, but there is an international component, with Drake, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd picking up nominations for best solo male act, while Lana Del Rey, Courtney Barnett and Ariana Grande getting best female solo acts. U2, Major Lazer and Eagles of Death Metal are among the international groups.

The 2016 Brit Awards will take place at London's O2 Arena on Feb. 24, being broadcasted live on ITV.
