According to the Everton boss, Premier League glory is still within reach, but the FA Cup is also very much on his mind.
"We don't need to win The FA Cup to save our season," the manager said, according to TheFA.com. "We respect The FA Cup, but there is still a long way to go before we can think about winning it. It is only the fifth round now. Our away form has been outstanding. We need to be a little more focused, but we are very close to reaching our aim in the league. We aim to finish in the European positions in the table. We want to make our way into the European positions and I think we can achieve that."
Martinez's counterpart today, Eddie Howe also reflected on the game's importance ahead of kickoff.
"We'd love to progress," Howe told his team's website. "I'll leave the team selection as a surprise! I won't tell you, but there will be some changes, we've got a good squad. I expect an open game on Saturday. Both teams want to win and we all remember the last time they came here. Hopefully this time we can win, it's a big game for everyone at the club. The carrot is there as we've only ever reached the quarter finals once in our history."
