Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger has been busy the past few years working with Avicii, Pharrell, Hans Zimmer and more. However, he didn't completely neglect his old band during that time.

In an interview with Radio.com, Einziger said he and frontman Brandon Boyd have been secretly working on new Incubus music to follow up 2011's If Not Now, When? and plans to release new music sometime next year.

He said that he and Boyd have been locking themselves in a room to collaborate for a few hours here and there.

"You know everybody's got a lot of things going on but we're slowly bringing out focus back to the band and everybody's excited about it because we've had enough time away from it to where it's exciting for everyone," he told them. "There's definitely some really great stuff coming."

However, he notes that most of the songs he has been developing are still in the early stages, so it might be a while until the music actually comes out.

"Our plan as of now," he said, "is put new music out probably early enough in the year that we would be set up to go out and do full touring in the summertime of next year."

For now, Einziger's next stop is Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this weekend, where he will perform as part of Skrillex's SuperJam along with Zedd, Damian Marley, Janelle Monae, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Mickey Hart, Chance The Rapper, Warpaint, Thundercat and Big Gigantic.

"It's a really great group of different musicians," enthused Einziger. "We're playing a lot of different music. The setlist is crazy."
