The late David Bowie's longtime musical collaborator and producer, Tony Visconti, has reportedly teamed up with audio company Eventide to share the "Starman" singer's iconic voice with music software plug-ins.

According to a new report from Music Radar, Eventide's Adrienne Humblet, Joe Waltz and Tony Agnello have been speaking with Visconti, who has worked as Bowie's producer from his second studio album to his most recent, Lazarus, over the course of two years. This time together has brought together some of the best minds in plugins and production for an historic new addition to musical software.

"The Eventide team listened as Visconti explained how he and Bowie worked together on the album Heroes," the publication quotes a source. "He described how powerful an instrument Bowie's voice was (what he called 'Bowie histrionics') and how he was able to harness that power by employing various microphone techniques. That meeting inspired the Eventide trio to create a plugin that would mimic and build upon the real world effects that Visconti had created."

If you're a music engineer or gear fanatic, this is probably very exciting news. Bowie's voice was so iconic and unique, and it was Visconti's microphone techniques that help show the world this. Now you can download a plug-in for a similar effect in your own work.

While there has yet to be an official announcement of this project, nor a release date revealed, this new report suggests that we could get our hands on this audio product in 2016, according to NME.

With this news circling around, it looks like Visconti has confirmed the news on his Facebook page:
