Chubby Checker doesn't just want to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... he wants to be inducted before it's too late. And seeing as "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again" are two of the most popular songs in Rock and Roll history, perhaps he has a point.

During a recent red carpet appearance at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala, the 72-year old singer-songwriter said, "I don't want to get in there when I'm 85-years old. I'll tell them to drop dead, so you better do it quick while I'm still smiling."

Luckily, Checker isn't the only one who feels the Hall of Fame is slighting him. Others have come out to vouch for the legendary singer.

During his induction this past April, Daryl Hall – of Hall and Oates – inquired why Checker wasn't in.

Also, famed songwriter Kenny Gamble has said, "I think Chubby Checker should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's the only person I know to have the same song go to Number 1 twice."

On the topic, Checker has noted that "Let's Twist Again" was the first rock and roll song to snag a Grammy Award back in 1962.

"If you put me in when I'm too old to make a living, then it's no good for me to be in there. The Rolling Stones, they're in there. The Beastie Boys are in there, they're young. Hall and Oates were just in there and they're still making money."

Sounds like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has some explaining to do.
