Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the series of movies starring Johnny Depp, is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2017. In fact, directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning had recently wrapped production, but decided to add one more scene with a special cameo. Sir Paul McCartney has been cast for a special scene, joining Keith Richards as another iconic British rock star that has appeared in the series.

Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Javier Bardem also star in the film, in much bigger roles than the Beatles member, though.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new scene was written for a special cameo, allowing for McCartney to get his acting career in motion, at least for a smaller part.

We can't help but compare this casting to the featured role that Richards had. The Rolling Stones guitarist portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow's father, which was fitting because back when the first film came out in 2003, Depp explained that he based his character on Richards. But McCartney's Liverpool accent and (sorry, Keith) proper diction, one can assume that he might not be a pirate in the fifth installment of the series (via UPROXX).

Perhaps Sir Paul will portray an officer in the British military or possibly a posh aristocrat? It doesn't really matter too much, since this is only a cameo and clearly an afterthought of the directors, but it's still fun to think about.

As a member of the Beatles, McCartney starred in a few films, including A Hard Day's Night and Help! Do you think Paul McCartney wants to build up his IMDB resume? Let us know what you think of this news in the comments section below.
