Beyonce’s Lemonade special on HBO has left behind a bevy of rumors in its wake, including attacks from the Beyhive against Rachel Roy. When the special premiered on HBO this past Saturday (April 23), it was widely believed that Roy was the “Becky” mentioned in Beyonce’s song “Sorry.” Roy has now addressed the rumors and vehemently denies that she in fact is the woman mentioned in the lyric, “He better call Becky with the good hair.”

There have been rumors that Jay Z cheated on Beyonce with none other than Roy years ago, which caused the now infamous elevator scuffle with her sister Solange.

Roy said to People, “I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that.”

She further said, “There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors. Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother - and I know many mothers would agree - I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media less the real issue here - the issue of cyber bullying - and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”

The drop of the Lemonade album first sparked the rumors, but in a since deleted Instagram post Roy herself seemed to agree with them, at least in the minds of the Beyhive.

The visual album for her sixth studio project was first released on Saturday night and is touted as having touched on deeper topics, like faith, being a black woman, and perhaps the most telling - infidelity. Beyonce took her fans on a visual and deeply personal journey where she exposes the feelings that one might experience when cheated on in a relationship.
