Local Natives' 2013 record, Hummingbird, was a standout album that year, but the band hasn't released any new songs since. That changed this week with the premiere of their latest song, "Past Lives." Listen to this new track below.

While they've performed the song live before, and it was featured on the Netflix series Flaked, this is the band's first official release of the recording.

"Past Lives" premiered along with a new press photo and an updated official website. So, it seems like more news is coming as this song starts to make waves this week.

Local Natives fans won't be disappointed with "Past Lives." It has the sound of a Hummingbird track, but with some expressive evolution that is a bit surprising-in a good way.

It's moody and layered, growing from a morose ballad into an anthemic rocker. There's even some borderline yelling towards the end of the emotional track, which will catch you off guard, but get you excited about what's to come from the band in 2016.

According to Consequence of Sound, the band performed a concert earlier this week, which had a setlist full of new material. It's only a matter of time before a new album or EP is announced. Hopefully, we'll be sharing some tour dates with you next week!
