"Batdance," the soundtrack standout of the 1989 movie Batman, is almost as iconic as the Tim Burton film itself, mostly because it was a Prince song about a comic book character-what more could you ask for? Well, imagine adding in one of the biggest hip-hop artists of the era, aka Big Daddy Kane. In the wake of the death of Prince, producer John Luongo has released the remix of "Batdance" with Kane providing some verses. Listen to this gem below.

We won't bore you with any more information. Listen to this previously unreleased and almost forgotten remix of "Batdance" right here:

So why wasn't a new version of a Prince song, for a huge movie, featuring a big rap icon, not released until after the artist's death? Perhaps Prince's distaste for hip-hop was the reason? But why was it recorded if that were true? It turns out, the song didn't cut it according to Warner Bros.

"The whole thing, recording, mix and editing, took a day and a half," Luongo told the LA Times in a new interview about the song (via The Smoking Section). "But I had a deadline! I remember FedEx was there waiting as I did my best to finish up, so we could make the next plane to rush it over to L.A. and Minnesota to let Warner Bros. and Prince hear what I had done. ... And then Warner Bros. said they didn't like it; it was too different. And that was it. They didn't release it."
