Reports reveal that music icon Prince showed interest to mentor R&B singer Chris Brown in an interview with Rolling Stone writer Brian Hiatt back in 2014, Pitchfork reported. Said interview was scrapped but was published as the front cover of the magazine at the wake of Prince's death.

The interview conducted in January 2014 revealed that the "Purple Rain" singer invited Brown to the Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis since he wanted to help the singer.

Prince commented about the treatment of Brown to Rihanna which journalist Hiatt called as "unforgivable." He said, "Unforgivable? Goodness. That's when we go check the master, Christ... Have you ever instantly forgiven somebody? It's the best feeling in the world, and it totally dismantles that person's whole stance."

The star also talked about Michael Jackson which made him brought up Brown saying, "He [Jackson] is just one of many who have gone through that door – Amy Winehouse and folks. We're all connected, right, we're all brothers and sisters, and the minute we lock that in, we wouldn't let anybody in our family fall. That's why I called Chris Brown. All of us need to be able to reach out and just fix stuff. There's nothing that's unforgivable," NME reported.

Meanwhile, like other stars, Brown also paid homage to the late icon by posting the photo of Prince's mural that he painted at L.A.’s Grammy Museum last year.

"I painted this at the Grammy MUSEUM LAST YEAR GLORIFYING THE GREATS!!!! MJ, JAMES BROWN, AND PRINCE! I AM THANKFUL FOR EVERYTHING THIS MAN HAS GIVEN US AND HE WILL LIVE FOREVER IN MY HEART!" Brown said in an Instagram post, according to Rap Up.

Investigation of Prince's death is still on-going but the police confirmed that he possibly died due to overdose when he was found unresponsive in an elevator on April 21. The 57-year-old musician was said to be on prescription drugs during his death.
