Beyoncé has spoken out against the controversial North Carolina anti-LBGT law HB2 that supersedes all local ordinances, allows business to discriminate against LBGT individuals based on religious beliefs and forces individuals to go the bathroom based on what is written on their birth certificate, targeting transgenders.

"As The Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time, we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy," the statement reads.

She then shouts out one organization that is doing good work in her eyes to further the cause of the LBGT community in North Carolina.

"Among the many organizations doing the good work to get this bill overturned, there is Equality NC, a local organization dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians."

She then empowers her own fans to go and support the organization.

"Learn more about how you can support Equality NC by donating, volunteering, becoming an ambassador, attending an event, or simply spreading the word!"

The timing of the statement is a bit odd however. She speaks about her show in the Tar Heel state as if it is coming up, yet the statement was posted late last night either during her show or after. There is no mention like other artist of a donation on her behalf like other artists such as Mumford & Sons. Other acts like Bruce Spingsteen, Ringo Starr and Pearl Jam have taken more extreme measures and canceled their tour dates in North Carolina all together.

Someone with the stature of Beyoncé could have done more to empower her fans towards a cause the pop star clearly feels passionate about beyond linking them to a website, though doing anything is commendable.
