Nas' album is actually done. On DJ Khaled's latest album Major Key, he links up with the legendary New York emcee on the track "Nas Album Done," that serves as both a promotional tune for Nas' upcoming album and a upbeat heater with some new Nas verses. The straightforward title was not lying as the LP is done and ready to go.

Speaking to Complex, Nas confirmed that indeed the album is complete and ready to go. "All we're doing now is plotting when we're dropping," the Illmatic rapper told the magazine. Asked when it might be released, he was coy and strategic, saying he has an idea for when it might drop "but it's not time to put that out there."

Nas could be keeping info about the album close to the vest since he has been relatively active in 2016, especially of late with some other projects coming to fruition. He executive produced Baz Luhrman's upcoming Netflix hip-hop drama The Get Down and has been writing raps for the show. He also released his film The Land last weekend.

A veteran of a cruel music industry, Nas knows not overexposing yourself and keeping stable growth is a major key for longevity, so he isn't in any hurry to launch right into his next album cycle, despite what fans may want.

This would be Nas' 12th studio album and first since 2012's Life Is Good.

Stay tuned to Music Times for any other updates that may come from Nas as he gears up to release his forthcoming, still untitled, album on Def Jam Recordings.
