Blake Shelton keeps the train a-rollin' as he adds to his already record-breaking streak of successive country music no. 1's. The Voice host's most recent single "My Eyes" makes it an even dozen.

Shelton's list of chart-topping hits doesn't stop at that 12 however. The performer has now notched 17 no. 1's to his name, which still leaves him a long way from the most ever. That record belongs to George Strait and his 44 top songs. But hey, something to aspire to.

We're going to interject before too many country fans get hot and bothered about this record. You ask "surely in the storied history of country music, someone else must've had a longer run at the top," and you'd be correct. The current record is based on the Nielsen BDS system, which first started being logged during 1990. Alabama holds the record for purists, as they logged 21-straight no. 1 country tracks between 1980-'87. Not to kill Shelton's vibe as 12 is still an admirable total, plus he's realistically dealing with more competition from a greatly expanded market.

Shelton might not get as much of a kick out of "My Eyes" as it's now the second time he's broken the record. He first broke out of a tie with Brad Paisley during April, when "Doin' What She Likes" became his 11th consecutive no. 1. The country star has gotten a healthy amount of legwork from his current album, Based On A True Story..., which has provided five no. 1 singles now.

Although it's Shelton's 17th no. 1 country single now, it's the first for his costar on the track, Gwen Sebastian. She was a competitor for the host's team during the second season of The Voice. She lost the contest, but obviously it's more about who you know versus what you win.
