Kesha has dropped her lawsuit in California against her record producer, Dr. Luke, whom she alleges sexually and emotionally abused her. The lawsuit is being dropped to focus their efforts on an appeal in New York court, according to Kesha's attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, and to possibly try and show some good faith to repair their business relationship. She submitted some new music to Dr. Luke's label, Kemosabe Records, which she hopes can be released as singles or albums.

According to The Guardian, Kesha has delivered 28 songs to Kemosabe Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. She is signed to both record labels and has been trying to break free of those contracts as part of her lawsuit against Dr. Luke.

"We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha's strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible," Petrocelli wrote in a statement via The Guardian.

While Kesha's team takes a more optimistic approach to the dismissal, Luke's attorney has a much different viewpoint.

"If Kesha is voluntarily dismissing her claims in the California case, it is because she has no chance of winning them," Dr. Luke's attorney, Christine Lepera, wrote in a statement via The Guardian. "Kesha never should have brought her false and meritless claims against Dr. Luke in any court."

Though she is dropping her lawsuit against Dr. Luke in California, she continues her court battle in New York. She is appealing two rulings earlier this year that have prevented her from breaking her contract with Dr. Luke and dismissed her claims of abuse. The main argument made by the court was that the alleged incidents happened outside of New York and thus were not covered by the statute of limitations.
