Justin Bieber has deleted his Instagram account following an online fight with ex Selena Gomez, who apologized soon after. He first threatened fans that he would make his account private if they did not stop insulting Sofia Richie, featured in some photos, who is rumored to be his current girlfriend. Sofia is the 17-year-old daughter of Lionel Richie, a legend in the music industry.

Rumors began swirling that the two were dating following her appearance on his Instagram page as reported by E! Online. The site also reported that the rumored couple is currently in Japan for his Purpose World Tour.

When Richie began to appear on his Instagram, fans unleashed a plethora of disrespectful comments, as well as encouraging him to get back together with his ex Gomez.

“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people I like,” Bieber said in a caption underneath a photo of the two inside of a car.

Gomez replied to the comment on Bieber’s post with, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol - it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.”

The argument then got more heated as reported by Rolling Stone, with Bieber writing, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”

To which Gomez responded with, “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.”

In screenshots that have been circulating online, Bieber then implied that Gomez had also cheated during their relationship with a “Zayn,” which may refer to Zayn Malik.

Gomez has since apologized for the post, and a source told People that they were ignited by her remaining feelings for the “Sorry” singer. She wrote that her commentary on his Instagram was “selfish and pointless” via her Snapchat shortly after the incident.

“He was Selena’s first love, and she hasn’t been able to totally get over him,” the source said to the publication.
