Not to be confused with their big, concert/documentary film directed by documentarian Morgan Spurlock, This Is Us, One Direction has another movie project coming out this month: Going Our Way. Though the bigger film being released later this year focuses on the biggest boy band in the world and its current tour, Going Our Way will show us how they started as "X-Factor" hopefuls who were thrust into a boy band to win the hearts of millions.
They're definitely comparable to The Spice Girls," said R&B critic, Mark Edward Nero, who likens the Brit boyband's success in America to the famous 90s girlgroup. He continued, "They've managed to do something that The Beatles couldn't do." He was referring to hitting number one on the Billboard music charts with their first album Up All Night.
The film delves into the controversy surrounding Simon Cowell's credit for making the boys a band and the real person who had the idea, Pussy Cat Dolls' member Nicole Scherzinger.
