Although known more for being a destination for movie studios and TV networks to promote their franchises than for being a music festival, Comic-Con International has announced the musical acts for their 2014 installment. MGMT will play a live set and Grimes will DJ a party for CraveOnline on July 25.

As Billboard notes, the event, sponsored by TNT's The Last Ship, will take place aboard the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier docked next to the Convention Center in San Diego.

Comic-Con 2014 has also secured performances this year from Linkin Park, who will headline the first ever mtvU Fandom Awards as well MTV Fan Fest on July 24 alongside G-Eazy at Petco Park -- unfortunately a landlocked location.

In recent years, the music industry has started trying to capitalize on all the fan activity. Last year Metallica played a surprise show in support of their mini-doc Metallica Through The Never, and in 2012 Rob Zombie played the first-ever Opening Party for VH1 Classic.

MGMT are currently touring in support of their self-titled third album, which dropped in September. Grimes has begun teasing material for her upcoming sophomore album, including the single "Let Go." Linkin Park released their sixth studio album, The Hunting Party, back in June and announced a European tour earlier this week. G-Eazy released his independent debut album These Things happen last month, featuring his hit singles "I Mean It" and "Lotta That."
