Demi Lovato is using her celebrity to support a cause she believes in: marriage equality.

The pop star was recently named the new face of the Human Rights Campaign's re-launch of Americans for Marriage Equality, according to Fuse.

"I believe that love comes in all shapes, sizes and colors," the "Heart By Heart" singer said in a PSA for the campaign. "Whether you're LGBT or straight, your love is valid, beautiful and an incredible love. So let's protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring and committed same-sex couples to legally marry. Please join me and the majority of American citizens who support marriage equality."

The HRC's website describes the campaign as a "collaborative campaign effort led by the Human Rights Campaign to advance marriage equality nationwide. The campaign works to provide up-to-the-minute information about marriage equality to lawmakers, legal experts, media and grassroots supporters."

The concept behind the campaign stemmed from a successful coalition effort in 2013, which was designed to support marriage equality against the backdrop of two historic U.S. Supreme Court cases challenging DOMA and Prop 8.

The coalition boasted more than 100 organizations that worked to keep lawmakers, media and allied organizations and grassroots supporters aware of developments on marriage equality.

Interestingly, the site says from late 2012 to June of 2013, ABC News/Washington Post polling showed that national support for marriage equality rose from 51 percent to 57 percent.

Lovato, who is also an anti-bullying ambassador, served as the grand marshal for Los Angeles' gay pride parade and performed at NYC Pride just last month.

She says "a lot of [her] spirit" comes from her grandfather, who came out in the '60s.
