Oprah Winfrey is reportedly looking to settle behind the desk of the Oval Office. This is sure to delight fans already calling for it online.

Ascending Ever Higher

Fresh off her groundbreaking speech while collecting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2018 Golden Globes, Winfrey is reportedly setting her sights on an even bigger accolade: that of President of the United States.

Following in the footsteps of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who's apparently seriously looking at running for office in 2020, Winfrey is considering the possibility of ascending to the biggest and most important job on the planet.

Social media was awash with cries for Winfrey to take over in the wake of her emotional call to arms at the Globes. Many think there is nobody more perfect for the job and now, it seems that everybody's favorite grandmother could actually be preparing to run for real.

Everybody Thinks She's Perfect For It

Although Winfrey deflected the question when asked outright by the LA Times, her longtime partner Stedman Graham told their reporter that it's a definite possibility. Graham told the Times it's essentially up to the public, suggesting the already massive support for her may convince Oprah in the end. Two of her closest friends have since confirmed they've been urging Winfrey to go for it for real in private, too.

All joking aside, she's seriously considering a presidential run. Speaking to CNN, the source, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed that discussions about a possible run have been ongoing for months.

The Most Sensible Choice

Although Winfrey has yet to make up her mind, it does make a certain amount of sense. Winfrey certainly has the money, public backing, and oratory skills demonstrated again by her rousing Globes speech to be a serious contender.

What she's lacking in is political experience and time, since Winfrey is a master multi-tasker, juggling being a CEO, an investor, and a special correspondent for CBS newsmagazine among other ventures. Although, given the current inhabitant of the Oval Office, that may not be such a drawback.

In fact, in a 2017 interview with Bloomberg, Winfrey acknowledged that Trump's election had changed her perception of who could or perhaps should run for President. She was also a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, noting how enormously satisfying it would be to finally see a woman occupying the highest office in the land.

Aside from the public surge in her favor, Winfrey also has the support of celebrity friends including Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, who tweeted out a mock campaign poster for her with the slogan "HOPE-RAH".

Winfrey running for President in 2020 might give everybody the hope necessary to keep pushing forward in these difficult times. However, she's keeping her cards close to her chest for the moment. According to those closest to her, though, it's certainly not the most outlandish idea in the world.

Given how bizarre the current political situation is, it might not be too crazy to consider the Democrats having to choose between Oprah and The Rock come to the next nomination.
