The critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta starring Donald Glover — a.k.a. Grammy-nominated artist Childish Gambino — has released a new teaser for its forthcoming second season, dubbed the "Robbin' Season."

The season's official name is an interesting hint of what's to come. According to Glover, Robbin' Season is the interim period between Christmas and New Year when robbers steal people's packages from their front steps.

"People have to get Christmas gifts so it's a time where robbery will go. You might get your package stolen from the front porch. It's just a very tense and desperate time," Glover said. "Our characters are going through insane, desperate transitions so Robbin' Season is kind of a metaphor for all of our characters."

Glover is continuing the pattern of shrouding the show's teasers with plenty of enigma, charm, and a hint of mystique. The teaser features Glover's character, Earnest "Earn" Marks spinning like a pendulum as the world behind him changes. Suffice it to say that it's highly atmospheric instead of plot-heavy, which the first season exemplified to unsettling, groundbreaking effect. Atlanta won two Emmy Awards at last year's ceremony, each for Glover's acting and directing.

If the teaser's circular motion is anything to go by, perhaps Glover is using it as a metaphor to illustrate how their lives in Atlanta are only going in circles. Granted, it doesn't reveal any stories that'll be explored in the show's second season, but it's sort of a moodpiece in a way, a clip that re-establishes the show's unique visual signatures and its surreal, magical realism-infused world.

Atlanta was hailed as one of the best shows of 2016, landing the top spots in many critics' year-end lists of the best programming.

"All these experiments [in Atlanta] are funny, and they also say something. The world of Atlanta, they say, is the real world, where bills are due, and small glitches can derail a life, and the color of your skin can affect the consequences of your actions," wrote The New York Times.

"The show is masterful in eliciting a range of feelings — a combination of joy and horror, tension and relief — but none more so than surprise," wrote IndieWire.
