The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently shared a photo of himself with his bandmates, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin. Fans are convinced that the group will be reuniting soon.

Will The Smashing Pumpkins Reunite?

Corgan did not directly say whether or not The Smashing Pumpkins will have a reunion this year, but rumors regarding the possible comeback have existed ever since they last performed in 2016. The Smashing Pumpkins disbanded over 10 years ago.

Jimmy Chamberlin Teases 2018 Tour

Last summer, Chamberlin said that he hopes to go on a tour with the original members of The Smashing Pumpkins this year.

"We were talking about playing next year with the band and somebody asked me, you know, 'What's it like trying to coordinate that?' I said, 'It's like Grumpy Old Men 3, only there's four grumpy old men and one's a woman.' So, that's how it's gotten to be," said the drummer.

Chamberlin also said that if their reunion will push through, he hopes to bring something new to the table.

"The purpose of this sabbatical needs to be revealed in the music. I'm counting on everyone bringing some new [expletive] to the table that is representative of the chance-taking that we've always done," said Chamberlin.

What Can Fans Expect?

In October, Corgan also opened up about the possible reunion between the original members of The Smashing Pumpkins. The guitarist acknowledged the fact that fans of the band have been clamoring for a reunion since they missed their music.

"But I will say to the world, be careful what you wish for, because if we do come back in any format, we're going to punch people's heads in... We'll go right back to being the band that we are - not even were, the band that we are," said Corgan.

Corgan, Iha Collaboration

Last year, Corgan released his solo album Ogilala, which was produced by Rick Rubin. The frontman collaborated with The Smashing Pumpkins guitarist, Iha, in his song "The Processional." His track, "Zowie," was a tribute to David Bowie, and some of his other songs include "The Spaniards," "Aeronaut," "The Long Goodbye" and more.
