Jenny Lewis' third studio album The Voyager isn't due in stores until July 29, but the new record from the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman is available for streaming starting today (July 21) in anticipation of the release date.

Lewis' new record takes a more atmospheric, steady approach than the country-tinted Acid Tongue, her last solo effort from over six years ago.

Produced largely by Ryan Adams and inspired by his Pax Am studio, The Voyager brings in timeless musical elements, from the funky '60s-style guitar work to the calming and soft vocals from Lewis herself.

Led by the Beck-assisted lead single "Just One of the Guys" (which got a gender bending music video earlier this month), much of The Voyager follows that track's suit, both sonically and lyrically.

Lewis finds herself exploring topics such as anxiety, truly becoming an "adult" and the little imperfections in life. As a whole, The Voyager feels like a diary for Lewis, as she spills out her deepest thoughts and insecurities but another part of the album feels like a security blanket, covered by the protagonists in Lewis' short stories.

Stream Jenny Lewis' new album The Voyager now over at NPR.

The Voyager is the third solo studio album from Lewis and it follows the release of her 2008 record Acid Tongue. Lewis' first post-Rilo Kiley foray was with the Watson Twins featuring record Rabbit Fur Coat, which was released in 2006.
