Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, the frontman of the band Calipurnia, introduced his band's first track on Wednesday, March 7.

Wolfhard is known as one of the kids from Netflix's hit sci-fi thriller series Stranger Things. The young star plays the role of Mike, a nerdy kid who plays Dungeons and Dragons with his friends inside his home's basement when not fighting Demogorgons. He also appeared in last year's hit horror movie It as one of the members of the Losers' Club.

However, Wolfhard is far from the characters he plays because, in real life, he might be the coolest 15-year-old on the planet.

'City Boy'

On the band's Instagram account, Wolfhard and company announced "City Boy," the band's first single. The song is now available for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.

Calipurnia also released an accompanying music video filmed and edited by Josiah Marshall.

In the video's description bar, the band expressed hopes for the video to reflect how much fun they had with the entire experience adding that "this music is really just the product of a bunch of friends who love music coming together to create something."

Calipurnia is also reportedly working on their debut EP. The band is currently signed to Canadian record label Royal Mountains which previously released Alvvays, Mac DeMarco, and METZ. The band started recording in November with Twin Peaks singer Cadien Lake James, according to Brooklyn Vegan.

"It is so sweet that we have such a good team at Royal Mountain Records," Wolfhard said in a statement. "I love everyone on it. I'm extremely excited to record our EP with Cadien Lake James. Not only is he in one of my favourite bands of all time, and recorded some of my favourite songs, but he is also the sweetest guy ever. Thanks everyone so much who helped us out along the way, it means the world."

Wolfhard is not the only Stranger Things kid who has a rising musical career. Joe Keery's psych-rock band, Post Animal, also recently released a new single. Charlie Heaton and Gaten Matarazzo also have their own groups.

'Stranger Things' Season 3

Wolfhard will probably be spending the next few months creating and promoting new music with Calipurnia. Stranger Things Season 3, according to reports, will not come out until 2019.

Actor David Harbour, who plays the role of Office Jim Hopper, shared in a previous interview that filming will not begin until March or April this year.
