The 2018 AfroPunk Festival lineup has been released. The Brooklyn-based event will feature performances from Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe, Tyler the Creator, Miguel, and more.
The annual celebration of art and culture will be held from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28 at the Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene. The festival already listed 37 artists on its official website as of this writing, but organizers promise more special guests at the event.
The theme for this year's festival is "The People Resists." Tickets are now for sale via AfroPunk's official website.
AfroPunk Headliners
Actress-singer Monáe is set to release her new album Dirty Computer next month. She already previewed her futuristic work through two singles "Make Me Feel" and "Django Jane." Her latest work will come with an accompanying short movie that the 32-year-old calls an "emotion picture."
Meanwhile, Miguel recently appeared at the 2018 Academy Awards held earlier this month to perform the song "Remember Me" with Natalia LaFourcade and Gael Garcia Bernal. The song was nominated and won the trophy for Best Original Song for the animated movie Coco.
On the other hand, Tyler the Creator recently canceled his performances in South America. In a tweet, he explained in his own creative way that things do not always work out as planned.

Carnival of Consciousness Lineup
This week, the third installment of Carnival of Consciousness in Atlanta also unveiled its 2018 lineup. The festival will feature performances from the Pharrell Williams-led rap group N.E.R.D., The Internet, and Benjamin Booker. The event will kick off on Oct.13 and will wrap up on Oct. 14 at the 787 Windsor.
Other performers include Wicked Wisdom, Noname, Little Simz, Serpentwithfeet, and more. Organizers promise that more musical acts will be unveiled in the following months, including one special guest.
Tickets for the Carnival of Consciousness music festival are not yet available, but AfroPunk is expected to announce on-sale dates soon.
Originating in Brooklyn, the AfroPunk Festival has expanded to Paris, London, and Johannesburg. The Paris event, which will take place in July, will see performances from SZA, D'Angelo, Gary Clark Jr. and more.
