Jesse Hughes, the frontman of Eagles of Death Metal, issues an apology to the survivors of the Parkland shooting. Hughes called them "vile" last week.

The survivors of the shooting organized the March for Our Lives rally and urged the government to issue stricter rules with regards to gun ownership. At the time, Hughes made fun of the situation by comparing gun regulation to a man cutting off his private part.

"As the survivor of a mass shooting I can tell you from first-hand experience that all of you protesting and taking days off from school insult the memory of those who were killed and abuse and insult me and every other lover of liberty by your every action," wrote Hughes.

The frontman of the metal band deleted his post after facing a backlash. On Sunday, he said that it was not his intention to offend anyone.

"I wanna be clear, I never intended for that to happen. I was not attempting to impugn the youth of America and this beautiful thing that they accomplished. I truly am sorry, I did not mean to hurt anyone or cause any harm," said Hughes.

The singer shared his video apology via a post on Instagram.

Jesse Hughes's Controversy

This is not the first time that Hughes was involved in a controversy. In 2015, 89 people were killed during Eagles of Death Metal's show in Bataclan. At the time, Hughes seemingly said that stricter gun control laws did not help prevent the shooting from happening.

A year later, Ismael El Iraki, a fan of Hughes and his band, fired back at him.

"I love your [band's] music, your concerts mostly (such fun, wild shows) and man, I never thought that you would become one of those spreaders of fear. Fox News, Trump, all those guys. You always felt like a maverick, a rebel: we now know that you are not," said the fan.
