It seems Lauryn Hill can't get no respect! But of course, she may very well have asked for it this time. It's been reported by TMZ that Hill showed up way late for her show last week in Chicago and then began to lecture a fan who was disrespectful towards her.

The show was at the Windy City's own House of Blues and was supposed to begin around 10:30 p.m. –– but it seems the singer didn't take to the stage until around 11:20 p.m.

A source close to the gossip site explains that once on the stage, Hill's opening number, and a few that followed, were absolutely terrible. That's apparently when the "disrespecting" began ... a fan reportedly called her out on her lack of punctuality and proceeded to flip her off. In response, Hill started reprimanding the fan and had him thrown out of the concert.

"When I get up on this stage, don't be disrespectful," she said. "You can go!"

She added, "There's a gentleman up there who did something I don't like. Can you please escort him out and refund his money? I don't need to win you over and you don't need to win me over."

The singer goes on to explain that she doesn't necessarily care if the fans are refunded their money because she performs for the love of music. "I don't owe you anything," she says in the video.

The source said they chose to leave the concert two songs after the rant –– which they stated were "rushed" and "sloppy." When leaving, there was allegedly a long line of concertgoers at the box office asking for their money back.
