A Colorado music festival is under investigation after an unnamed 30-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the stomach, reports reveal.

Man Down In Accidental Shooting In Colorado Festival

The incident took place at around 5:42 in the afternoon on Friday, June 15, at the 2018 Country Jam Festival in Grand Junction. Authorities on site were able to immediately respond to the accident and an ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

The victim, whose name was not released to the press, was taken to the St. Mary's Medical Center. His condition was withheld from the public.

"We believe it was accidental, but we're still investigating," stated Megan Terlecky, spokesperson for the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, to The Daily Sentinel.

Among the information being sought by the authorities is how the unidentified man was able to sneak the gun into the events ground as ll kinds of weapons are prohibited inside the festival.

In addition, security at the Country Jam and all other festivals across the United States this year was ramped up following the mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas in October. The Durango Herald reports that attendees of Country Jam in Colorado were subjected to bag searches at the gates. Backpacks and other larger bags were also prohibited as an extra security measure.

Law enforcers in civilian attire were also dispatched to the venue during the three-day music festival.

The Daily Sentinel added that about 24 arrests were made on the first day of the music festival for alcohol-related offenses.
