Chris Cornell and daughter, Toni, perform a lovely rendition of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" in a recording released on Father's Day.

On Sunday, June 17, the 13-year-old uploaded the cover on YouTube as a tribute to the late rock icon.

"Daddy, I love you and miss you so much," the young singer wrote on Twitter. "You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn't have any."

Chris died on May 18, 2017, by apparent suicide. This is the second year that his family is celebrating Father's Day without him.

"Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too," Toni continued. "Happy Father's Day daddy, nothing compares to you."

The Soundgarden frontman's official channel on YouTube posted the recording. As of this writing, the cover has been streamed over 102,000 times. Toni and the rest of the Cornell family also received encouraging words from fans of the late rock icon.

Chris previously released an acoustic cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" back in September 2015, reported The Rolling Stone. Later, following Prince's death in 2016, the singer-songwriter recorded a studio version of the song.

On Father's Day 2017, Toni discussed her and her dad's mutual love of Prince.

" I have so many memories with you but one of my favorite ones was earlier this year when I was jetlagged and we watched 'Purple Rain,'" she recounted on Chris' official page on Facebook. "I put it on and immediately fell in love!"

Toni Cornell Sings 'Hallelujah' For Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington

This is not the first time that Toni proved that she inherited her father's talents. The young singer made headlines last year when she performed an emotional rendition of "Hallelujah," a song originally by Leonard Cohen. The performance, joined by One Direction, was a tribute to her father and family friend, late rocker Chester Bennington.

The song was poignant because the Linkin Park frontman, who also died by suicide last year, performed the same song at Chris' funeral.

Last month, to mark the first anniversary of his death, Vicky Cornell, widow of Chris, held a vigil at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The event was attended by dozens of fans who sang "Like A Stone" and "I Am The Highway" to celebrate the legacy of the beloved music icon.
