Rapper Scarface of the hip-hop collective Geto Boys said that he's undergoing dialysis due to kidney failure as a complication from COVID-19.

In a recent Zoom interview with fellow Geto Boys member Willie D, Scarface opened by saying, "I'm glad to be alive bro," before recalling their previous conversation where he first admitted contracting the highly contagious disease. In the time before their recent talk, Scarface admitted being brought back to the hospital on Monday, April 20, explaining that he "fought COVID, double bilateral pneumonia in both lungs, and kidney failure in my house."

Scarface then went to show Willie D the pad covering the dialysis catheter on his chest. The "Willie D Live" host then asked his fellow rapper about the doctor's advice.

The Houston-based rapper explained that he had to change his entire diet. He also shared undergoing dialysis four days a week, with every session lasting for three hours. "That's taking all my blood out, cleaning it, and putting it back in my body."

Scar then elaborated that he "could not go to the hospital with COVID, because I didn't want them to put me on a ventilator... anybody put on ventilator's f**king dyin' bro." He added that if he would be put on a ventilator, he "would rather die at home."

In his three-week stay in the house, he described the experience as hell, saying that he couldn't keep food down, get comfortable, sleep or stay woke. "I could not breathe. It was the worst time of my life because I couldn't walk, my leg's like a bag of water." He added that his kidney failure gave him difficulty keeping his food down, itchiness in his arm, and tasting "rubber" in his mouth.

He also shared that "Hanging on that string of death makes you appreciate life," adding that he was inches away from death. His near-death encounter also made him firm that he will live and that he promised to go out and "see the world" once this is all over.

Willie D then asked his groupmate about the reopening of Georgia, asking about people going back to normal. "That's stupid," Scarface answered, adding that he thinks the government "want us, black people to go out there... because clearly, we don't know sh*t about this disease or whatever they call it." He emphasized that "we don't know enough about it to be wanting to get back at starting life." He thinks that opening non-essential businesses such as barbershops and beauty shops are "so we can pass that sh*t amongst ourselves and kill ourselves."

The two Geto Boys members also talked about Scarface's upcoming 50th birthday later this year. Scarface joked that he would have the "Tiger King" for his birthday, referring to the recent Netflix hit about Joe Exotic.

He first revealed testing positive for coronavirus in Willie D's show last March 26, describing the experience as an "ordeal." His results returned in the evening of March 25, recalling how his battle started with pneumonia in both lungs, followed by his kidneys failing three or four days after. To stay safe, Scarface shared that he had to "stay away from everybody."
