The debut single of Simple Plan, "I'm Just A Kid," is now a certified platinum record, thanks to the viral mobile app, TikTok. The debut song of the band was released in 2002. It is currently widely used as one of the trending songs on the social media site.

Platinum status is given to a record or album once it reaches one million sold copies. One hundred fifty streams are equivalent to one unit sold. "I'm Just A Kid" was certified on May 26, 2020, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The debut single comes from Simple Plan's debut album "No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls" released on February 19, 2002. The LP ranked its highest at No. 35 on January 17, 2004, on Billboard 200 albums chart. It remained on the board for 69 weeks. Relive the music video of the single now -
TikTokers picked up the song as background music where family members or friends re-create their childhood photos and compare them with the original pose in the most creative and fun way. There are currently over 3 million videos uploaded and shared on the app that took on the challenge.

The cast of the film 2003 "Cheaper By The Dozen" uploaded their version, which further boosted the viral challenge's popularity. The family movie stars are Steve Martin, Alyson Stoner, Hillary Duff, and Piper Perabo. "I'm Just A Kid" is one of the featured songs in the comedy film.

  Simple Plan did not want to be left behind and joined the bandwagon to show their support with the trend. After their single was officially certified platinum, the band thanked the TikTokers, who turned it into a viral phenomenon and further wrote, "gave our little song a second life over the last few months."

The band members are lead vocalist Pierre Bouvier, drummer Chuck Comeau, lead guitarist Jeff Stinco, guitarist Sébastien Lefebvre, and bass guitarist David Desrosiers.
