Grammy-award winning singer Sara Bareilles is set to star in Tina Fey and Robert Carlock's Peacock comedy "Girls5eva". She will be playing a member of a former one-hit-wonder of a girl group called Girls5eva who is trying to take another shot at stardom.

The show was created by Meredith Scardino and the show focuses on the members of a 1990s girl group called Girls5eva. They are a one-hit-wonder, and their hit song ends up getting sampled by a young rapper. This leads them to reunite in the hopes of giving their dreams of stardom another shot. They have their own conflicts to overcome, however - spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents, shoulder pain. Despite this, they will push on to become Girls5eva once more.

Sara Bareilles will play a girl named Dawn, a former member of the group who is now keeping herself busy by managing her family's small Italian restaurant in Queens, New York. Though hesitant to return with the group, she finds out that they are exactly what she needed.

When talking about being cast for the role, Bareilles has this to say, "It was a pinch-me moment to be able to cross paths creatively with women like Meredith Scardino and Tina Fey, who I have been a fan of forever. I have been a longtime admirer of so many characters that were brought to life by their other projects, and I am already in love with the women at the center of Girls5eva. I am so excited to help bring to life what I am sure will be a smart, creative, hilarious show with a lot of heart."

Earlier this year, Sara Bareilles had won a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance for her song "Saint Honesty". She previously starred in "Waitress" on Broadway, a musical in which she wrote the music and wrote lyrics for as well. She is an executive producer for Apple's latest series "Little Voice", which also features original music from Bareilles.

Meredith Scardino is the executive producer of Girls5eva with Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond, David Miner, and Eric Gurian.
