Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes admitted that he had been diagnosed with a disease that would disable him from participating in their upcoming "Monsters of Rock" cruise. In an Instagram post, Holmes' wife and manager, Cathy-Sarah Holmes, revealed that Chris has Throat and Neck cancer.

Holmes decided to drop out of the "Monsters of Rock" cruise with the shocking announcement due to his pre-existing condition.

The status of Monsters of Rock Cruise

On the same Instagram post wherein she revealed her husband's medical condition, Holmes has also alluded to the status of the upcoming "Monsters of Rock" Cruise.

Similarly important to Chris, Cathy thanks tour producer Larry Morand for his "kindness and understanding" on the matter at hand, as they have decided to reschedule the "Monsters of Rock" Cruise to a future date.

However, the Bandcamp will continue to run but will have some delays.

According to Holmes, the "best way" to keep her husband positive is to continue focusing on the tour's upcoming Canadian tour and the United Kingdom September and October legs.

She then assured fans and supporters that Chris is "strong" and a "fighter" will come back "stronger than before".

Moments after the announcement, W.A.S.P. leader Blackie Lawless and Holme's former bandmate expressed their hope for Holmes' recovery on the band's Twitter account.

Holmes with WASP

In the band from 1982 to 1990, and again from 1996 to 2001, Holmes was a founding member.

The tension between Holmes and Lawless became legendary, and he revealed to Classic Rock magazine last year that the only reason he had returned to the band was a way for him to see the world again.

He also added that the things that he had "hated about the band had changed", and that their frontman Blackie Lawless was "easier to get along with" was "all crap" as nothing had changed.

In a press conference in 2017, Lawless responded to calls for W.A.S.P. o reunite with the estranged guitarist Chris Holmes.

Lawless responded: "People get divorced for certain reasons, and there's times when the kids want the parents to get back together, but sometimes it never happens. And this is one of those. Sorry."
