Charlie Puth is making new friends lately, and one person he seems to grow closer with is Elton John. The "Light Switch" singer recently revealed his friendship with the pop icon.

Elton John's "The Lockdown Sessions" was a dream come true for Charlie Puth, who is thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the legendary musician.

However, the singer-songwriter claimed that the English pop veteran first had harsh words for his music before they began working together.

In an appearance at the Kelly Clarkson Show, the "We Don't Talk Anymore" hitmaker explained how their friendship started and included him on the icon's recent project "The Lockdown Sessions".

"Elton texted me his address when he first expressed that he wanted to work with me, which was great. He was brutally honest with me," the 30-year old singer said.

But, before working, Elton John seemed to have dropped a shocking raw revelation to Charlie Puth.

Elton's 'honest' comment

Before Elton John and Charlie Puth became the friends they are today, Charle received some "honest truth" from the pop icon.

"He told me my 2019 music sucked, and I agree with him. It was not good.", Puth revealed to The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday.

Charlie Puth, on the other hand, was unbothered by Elton John's point of view. He explained that Elton had basically said he "could make a lot better music," and that Puth should simply make it himself.

Instead of being offended, Charlie was even grateful for the comment: "I was like, 'Wow, you're the first person that ever said that to me,' but I was thinking the exact same thing when he said that".

The Lockdown Sessions, After All

The pop icon's negative feedback did not hinder Puth's ability to collaborate on music with Elton.

The English musician invited Puth to contribute to his track "After All" from "The Lockdown Sessions".

The second single from the album, "After All," was released as the second single from the album, which reached at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

"After All" has spent a total of 15 weeks on the list thus far. The album of collaborative tracks, which also included Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, and others, has amassed over a billion streams.
