As expensive as it actually is, Valentines is one of the most expensive holidays every year. Next to Thanksgiving and Christmas Time, people spend a rather large sum of money buying chocolates and reserving a dinner table for two.

For rap enthusiasts, the after-date entertainment is supposed to be taken care of already by VERZUZ because big-hit crooners Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild are set to grace the iconic stage for Valentine's Day.

With the early announcement last month, fans have started betting against the two, knowing all well that it would be free, like how VERZUZ has been for the past years.

However, in a recent turn of events, VERZUZ announced something that put the fans of the rap battle show in a frenzy.

Paid VERZUZ? Why now?

VERZUZ has received flak after making a special announcement about their Valentine Special event with Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild.

Over on Instagram, VERZUZ shared on its account that the Hamilton and Soulchild battle would not technically be a "free event."

Fans hoping to watch the Valentine's battle on Instagram Live per usual will not be able to witness the VERZUZ face-to-face anymore as the show is only available on the VERZUZ website and via Triller.

Triller is a video-sharing social networking service that allows users to create and share short-form videos, including videos set to or automatically synchronized to music using artificial intelligence technology.

Avid hip-hop and rap fans did not take the news with love, showing their differing opinions on social media.

Some complained about how money ruined the celebratory experience they have been enjoying ever since, to the point of blaming VERZUZ founders Swizz Beats and Timbaland's actions.

Many people have sworn off VERZUZ and claimed they would not watch it if it needed a subscription or required payment.

Fans are storming Timbo and Swizz's Instagram account, who have both posted reminders for the show despite the backlash.

Fans are not showing 'love'

One user quipped, explaining why she would not pay for the service with the poor production value of the show.

A user posted a confused Cicily Tyson reaction meme, also confused why organizers have now decided to charge for subscription.

This user even made a "Euphoria" reference.

One is even calling for a wrap-up.

As to why Timbaland and Swizz Beats are now charging for subscription, the two has not released any official announcement.
