Eurythmics still conquers headlines years after their split, and Annie Lennox spoke candidly about it and their "survival."

Last month, Lennox and Dave Stewart received their second nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame following their induction in 2018. Although the duo reunited multiple times in recent years to join other bands' tours and concerts, everything was over between the members in 1990.

Despite that, they still made it to their second nomination for induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With that, Lennox is sure that Eurythmics did everything it takes to survive in the industry even without releasing new music after the split.

"Dave and I have a long history. We've pretty much done everything it takes to survive in the industry of music, just like all the artists who've been nominated for the Hall of Fame. We each have our individual pathway and our own unique life stories, through music making, recording and performance," she said.

The pop duo hit their breakthrough when they released their hit song, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and sold around 75 million record copies worldwide. They were also honored with a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music in 1999.

Despite their success, they called it quits in the end - although there was no formal announcement about it.

Eurythmics officially joined other artists who are nominated for the honor. Inductees will be announced in May 2022.

Annie Lennox Heartbroken by Eurythmics' Split

Lennox has been open about her heartbreak after the band broke up. While it was indeed one of the darkest times of her life, she clarified that she never had a nervous breakdown.

"I never actually had a breakdown. I was never under any medication. I was never under any doctor's orders or put in an institution. If you read some of the things that are written, you would think I was in a straitjacket, barking mad, taken away by men in white coats," she said, as quoted by Daily Record.

Before Eurythmics, they were once part of the band The Tourists - the band behind "I Only Want To be With You." However, the first band's split left them in a legal battle due to a whopping company bill.

After the pop duo's disbandment, Lennox said she was not with Stewart anymore, but she was with him all the time.
