A year after nursing a legal headache with Beatdemons' lawsuit against "GOOBA," 6ix9ine's camp has finally come to an agreement to put an end to the battle.

Controversial rapper 6ix9ine released his 2020 hit "GOOBA" while on house arrest because of his entanglement with a violent street gang in 2019, where he was sentenced to two years.

6ix9ine's 'GOOBA' lawsuit

Last March 2021, Texas-based production group Beatdemons sued 6ix9ine, alleging the rapper's song "GOOBA" is "uncannily similar" to their 2018 song "Regular."

Beatdemons claimed that the two have the same melody, form, structure, and function.

Per TMZ, the group thought that someone from 6ix9ine's camp saw the video of the song, which at the time recorded 152,000 views, then used it on the 2020 hit.

The 25-year old's camp, on the other hand, hit back at the accusers, saying the lawsuit filed was "without merit" as it was "another attempt to profit off of Tekashi's success.

"GOOBA" is 6ix9ine's first post-prison track, debuting at No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The collab was also certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

However, a recent and what seemed to be a final update on the lawsuit has surfaced.

6ix9ine's 'GOOBA' lawsuit settlement

Per the court-obtained documents by Complex, the rapper's legal team has decided to settle the lawsuit.

Aside from 6ix9ine and Beatdemons, the involved parties included the rapper's label TenThousand Projects; his distribution arm Create Music Group, and songwriters Andrew Green and Jahnei Clarke.

"The parties anticipate that the written settlement agreement will be finalized within the next forty-five (45) days and that a stipulation of dismissal of the entire case, with a waiver of fees and costs, will be filed shortly thereafter," the settlement reads.

The settlement came weeks after the rapper confessed that he is "struggling to make ends meet," in a sworn declaration to a judge who oversaw his 2018 robbery case.

Per the rapper, any more unfavorable decision against him would probably leave him penniless.

"It will surely bankrupt me in a way from which I will never recover to the permanent detriment and hardship of the family members who rely upon me," 6ix9ine pleads.

This is not the first time the "Trollz" rapper has been embroiled in a controversy or a lawsuit. He was accused of defamation, sexual harassment, and discrimination by three different accusers.
