Not more than a day since Dreamville Records released its new mixtape, one of its mega-tracks is now riddled with controversy.

Dreamville's 'D-Day Gangsta Grillz Mixtape'

Launched last Thursday, Mar. 31, 2022, the "D-Day: Gangsta Grillz Mixtape" featured the entire Dreamville team, including founder J.Cole, Ari Lennox, JID, Bas, Cozz, Earth Gang, Omen, and Lute, for a whopping fifteen tracks.

"D-Day: Gangsta Grillz Mixtape" is the most recent mixtape that DJ Drama produced for the label.

Aside from the entire Dreamville roster, the mixtape also guested A$AP Ferg, Young Nudy, 2 Chainz, Sheck Wes, G Perico, Kenny Mason, and TDE's Mason.

As quick as it may seem, DJ Drama was the first producer to refer to Will Smith's infamous Chris Rack Slap at the recent Oscars in "Starting 5."

Aside from "Starting 5," Dreamville's other track on the mixtape, "Sticks," picked up traction online because of a rapper's allegation.

Dreamville's 'Sticks' Copied From a 2020 Rockstar JT Track?

The JID sung-track "Sticks" was one of DJ Drama's star-studded tracks on the "D-Day: Gangsta Grillz Mixtape" he released. It featured Kenny Mason, Sheck Wes, and Dreamville mastermind J.Cole.

A day after its release, small-time rapper Rockstar JT took to Instagram to speak his mind about the DJ Drama mega-track.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Rockstar JT alleged the North Carolina collective of copying his 2020 track "Sticks," which coincidentally seemed to have the same title.

"In 2020, I dropped STICK .. 2022 @dreamville dropped STICK .. I know they are way bigger artists than me but these songs sound identical, just structured different .. this is not for clout but do y'all hear it? [crying emoji]," Rockstar JT penned along with snippets of his song.

The Neighborhood Talk, an entertainment website, reposted the controversial allegation before it was deleted, gaining some traction because of the accusations.

Hours after the news circulated online, Rockstar JT updated his account, saying that his team and Dreamville finally aired out the concern.

Per Dreamville, the recently released "Sticks" was recorded already in 2019 (but was unreleased until last Thursday), a year before Rockstar JT released his.

Rockstar JT ended the update optimistic based on his well-wishes on the two tracks.

"My goal is never to get clout or come up off another man. Coming from where I come from we work hard that's it," he wrote.
