Tyra Banks recently gave her opinion on the casting of Whitney Houston in the singer's forthcoming Lifetime biopic.

According to Enstarz, Banks stopped by the Watch What Happens Live set in NYC and opened up about former America's Next Top Model contestant Yaya DaCosta snagging the role.

"She is KILLING it! She has been in Academy Award nominated movies, she has been in scenes with Oprah in The Butler and now she was chosen to play Whitney Houston!," she exclaimed proudly.

"This is insane and huge for me and Yaya I'm super proud of you," Banks said as reported by The YBF. "You won the acting challenge on America's Next Top Model back in the day so we knew that there was something special. She's an actress that use to model."

As previously reported, DaCosta will star as Houston alongside Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown and Yolonda Ross as Houston's friend Robyn Crawford.

Escarpeta is a 33-year-old Belizean actor who has appeared in Final Destination 5, Friday the 13th and Star Trek Into Darkness. Ross most recently appeared in Phil Spector and Treme.

As the press release notes, the film "chronicles the headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model and singer-songwriter Bobby Brown-from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage. Throughout it all, difficulties followed the superstar couple while they dealt with the overwhelming rewards and consequences of the fame and fortune created by Whitney's meteoric rise that would soon overshadow them both."

The film is slated to air in 2015 and will be directed by actress Angela Bassett in her directorial debut.

Houston's family is unhappy with production of the film. Last month, Music Times reported the late singer's mother asked Lifetime to cancel the film.
